Our First Christmas at Home

Posted by Pres under: Family; Home Movies.

This year was the first time in almost ten years of marriage that we have been at home for Christmas.  We have been threatening to do it for a couple of years, but now with two kids we decided to stay home and open presents with just our family.  We did end up going to Rockland Christmas day for the rest of the weekend, but we had Christmas Eve and Christmas morning at our house.  It was a lot of fun and Conner and Taya got all the attention to themselves.

Here are some pictures of Christmas at the Deans in Eagle Mountain.

Here is a video preview of Conner riding his snowboard on the first day.  My memory card filled up before I could get some of him not falling.  My brother got some later in the day when we went up to the drifted wheat fields.  I will post them when I get them.

Here is what our Christmas Card finally ended up looking like.

So this last week we really started to get Christmas Cards in the mail, and we realized that we haven’t even given much thought to what we are doing for ours this year.  Is it too late?  Ordinarily probably yes, but not this year.  Earlier this year my sister started designing and selling custom cards, birth announcements, save the dates, and recently Christmas cards.  This year it’s taken care of.  No more photoshopping us living in an igloo in the Alaskan Tundra, or turning us into digital bobble-head toys (my idea for last year that didn’t pan out in time).  This year all we have to do is pick out a template, send her a family picture and in less than 24 hours we’re off to Wal-mart to get them printed.

So if any of you are like us, and you know who you are, and are too busy, too overwhelmed, stuck on an idea, have forgotten, or lets face it, too lazy, then do what we’re doing.  Let someone else do all the work.

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS! (from her website)

1 Choose and purchase your design from www.etsy.com/shop/deanworks or send an email to theperfectoccasion@deanworks.org to request a custom design. All of my designs can be made in a 4×6 or 5×7 size, so be sure to let me know which size you want! Also, be sure to attach the photo(s) and information/wording for your card in the email.  You can change fonts, colors, number of photos, and wording to fit your own personal style.

2. In about 24 hours (most likely less), you will receive a proof via email. I want you to be completely satisfied, so I will work with you until you are!

3. Once you have approved the card, I will send you the high resolution file that you can have printed at the photo finisher of your choosing (Wal-Mart, Winkflash, Snapfish, etc).

It’s that easy.

Most of her designs are $15/template, but if you contact her and tell her you heard about it from Pres or Mandy she will set up a custom listing for you for $10.  I wish I could get that deal.

Here are a few examples of some of the more popular ones, but check out her etsy shop for all the options.

Part of the Blog Family

Posted by Pres under: Family.

Taya will be turning 7 months old on Saturday, so it is about time we updated our blog header to include her, right?

Our neighbor, Lyndsey from Seenbox Photography, took some pictures of our family and we loved the one of Conner holding Taya so much we decided to make it our header.

Here is one of the few family pictures where everyone was smiling.  It takes a great photographer to capture the split second shots where everyone is cooperating.

Here are a few more great ones from the shoot.

Taya the Good Witch of the West

By popular request……Here’s Taya’s Costume.

Special thanks to Kara for making the tutu.  Grandma Dean for making the belt and sleeves.

Mandy found the tights and hat from the dollar bin, and ended up hand-dyeing a onesie purple because she couldn’t find one.

Conner on KSL

So one of our friends tipped KSL about Conner’s Sideswipe costume, and they decided to do a story on it. Here is the link to the story on KSL’s website.

Here is the video that aired on the news last night.

The youtube video has had 6,700 views since Monday.
